Someone mentioned earlier in this thread how the pace of our game changed after AC came on, I think it was a bit of a shop window as I was quite surprise Pelle didn’t give him a run out late against the Geordies.

Fabianski had no chance with their goal

The great lump that is Andy Carroll, having missed a chance to head it clear, was blocking him off!

Let’s hope this was the shop window, he’s a piss taker and has no place in our side. The shot he had from 25 yds sums him up, all about him, get him out and let’s carry on playing football

These are the games that make the difference between a bad season and a half-decent one. You don't need to pick up many points to move through the middle ranks of the premiership. Could easily have gone the other way given how the first half ended.

Carroll hasn’t played a Premier league match for 7 months so think you can expect such a big lump to be rusty.
With Arnie injured we need him to sharpen up pretty damned quick though

Also, since those first 4 games - we've taken 18 points from 11 games at an average of 1.6pts per game, that'll put us at 54.8pts at the end of the season which would have been enough for 7th and Europe last season....I don't think we'll be far off - given our injuries that is quite an achievement for Pellegrini...then like my dreams

Debs - they're doing their job. Make provocative statements and people will ring in.

Doesn't matter if the provocative statements contradict each other

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Cardiff - Official Match Thread
Few positive comments last time I did a player ratings post, with the kids in bed, the missus working and my shiny new expensive bluetooth headset on, I was able to fully concentrate on the entire 95mins, heres my thoughts:

Fabianski: 7 - punched and palmed rather than caught and dominated. Good pen save, and a couple of decent other saves but should have been stronger for their consolation - he should have wiped everyone out - the 6 yard box is his territory.

Antonio: 8 - Excellent from Antonio, solid at the back and made some good interceptions and tackles, very good going forward. Would be exploited against the majority of the Prem, but today he did everything right.

Masuaku: 7 - Similar to Antonio, looked solid at the back and made a goal saving challenge in the second half. Didn't look so good going forward today and appeared a bit nervous and low on confidence, but generally a good display.

Diop: 7 - A rock as always, looked to step forward today and help in attack, he has it all - need to enjoy him while we can, he'll be playing Champions League football within two years max.

Ogbonna: 7 - Shaky at times in the first and lucky not to give away a pen grappling stupidly from a corner, but grew into the game and looked decent generally once he settled.

Rice: 7 - What a player this lad is. The commentator mentioned that he is still a teenager...pay him the money, in fact pay him more - alongside Diop, this boy is our future and should be paid whatever he wants.

Noble: 7 - Sloppy at times, but his leadership is invaluable. Needs to start when available - despite his obvious flaws, we are a better team with him starting and Wilshere will need to be at his best to oust him.

Snodgrass: 7 - It's taken me a while, but today I realised I really like him as a player. A proper grafter, decent on the ball, some good skills, suddenly £10m looks like a pretty good price...never in a million years thought I'd be saying that.

Anderson: 8 - What a player he is, gradually gaining an understanding of the physicality of the Prem - still more to do, needs to get a bit nastier generally, but the way he glides with the ball at his feet is beautiful to see. He also picks out a killer pass better than any player I've seen at the club other than Eyal Berkovic.

Arnautović: 6 - Average from Arnie, should have scored and gave away a silly pen before picking up what looked like a fairly serious hamstring injury. He is unplayable at times though and remains are key man, be a big miss if he is out over the Xmas period.

Hernandez: 5 - Didn't do much, didn't have any chances and was bullied out of the game by the big lumps Cardiff have at the back.

Subs:

Perez: 8 - I was one of those on this thread criticising Pellegrini and thinking how crazy it was bringing this lazy disinterested player on when we also had Diangana on the bench. Happy to be proved completely wrong and he looked sharp, up for it and deserved his two goals. Hope it isn't a flash in the pan and he can push on now.

Diangana: 8 - May claret and blue tinted glasses, but I thought he was the best attacking player on the pitch, inventive, busy, skillful and deserved to get on the scoresheet. I've been a bit uncertain of him at times, but he looked the real deal today and it seems Pellegrini is managing his development perfectly.

Carroll: 4 - Not trying to dig anyone out after winning back to back games for the first time in nearly two years, but he looked completely out of his depth alongside such quick technical players. He was clumsy, poor on the floor, at fault for their goal & looked very slow in both mind and body. Maybe I'm being harsh, but he's had enough chances and deserves no more. If he wants a place in this squad, he will need to do a lot more.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Cardiff - Official Match Thread
Makeshift defence, Arnautovic off injured, not a bad performance considering - bit scrappy, but entertaining. It's a good sign when you're playing within yourself and scoring 3!

I thought Antonio was quite good - admittedly Cardiff are poor and didn't give him too many problems, but still, he wasn't terrible defensively. It's good that we've been able to rest Balbuena & Zabaleta and cope alright.

Anderson was the stand iut player followed by Rice and Noble. And well done Perez for scoring a couple.

Bring on Crystal Palace!

Palace had a stinker at Brighton despite having an extra man for most of the match.

Reckon they will be extra motivated to turn in a good performance against us...

If we play as we can, palace shoudlnt worry us at all.

They have hardly any goal threats at the moment with zero strikers banging anything in.

It's west ham though, so hopefully we won't dish up any gifts like we're known to do.

BBC match report saying that's the first time we've recorded consecutive league wins since January 2017. Pretty much two years.... That can't be right, can it?

It's completely insane to let what happened with Oxford dictate our offers to Rice.

Oxford - one good game, and a couple of shit ones;

Rice, good game after good game, the mental strength to recover from his rare mistakes, and he's playing in what was his second position before he broke into the team. And our rivals want him, if you believe what the media say.

Have been critical of Perez but great to have him and Pea score twice each this week.
Extra goal options in the squad? ... definitely not the West Ham Way recently
